Frequently asked questions
Planning a wedding with your furry best friend can come with questions. We've compiled answers to the most common queries about our wedding dog attendant services. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to reach out to us directly!
What exactly does a wedding dog attendant do, and how is it different from a regular pet sitter?
A wedding dog attendant is there to look after your dog during the wedding day itself. Think of us as your dog’s dedicated plus-one, so you don’t have to ask a friend or family member to miss the ceremony, photos, or cocktail hour to manage your pup.
On the day, we handle things like getting your dog to and from the venue (if needed), keeping them calm and comfortable, helping with photos, and making sure they’re in the right place at the right time for key moments like walking down the aisle or greeting guests. We also manage water and potty breaks, keep them clean and photo-ready, and step in if they need a quiet reset away from the crowd.
A regular pet sitter is usually focused on home routines like feeding, walks, and general care. A wedding attendant is focused on wedding logistics, timing, and makin
What if my dog is a bit shy, or has special needs or habits?
They do not need to attend the ceremony if you don't think they can handle it. I can sit them away from the action in a quiet pre-determined place. Medication can be administered as well. A detailed questionnaire learning your dog's needs will help us create a seamless care plan for your big day. If your dog has a bite history or becomes overwhelmed around strangers/crowds, we’ll be honest about whether a wedding is the right environment and suggest alternatives
What happens if there is a medical emergency or my dog needs meds?
We are certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. If your dog has a specific medical routine or requires "event-day" anti-anxiety medication, we follow your vet’s instructions exactly to maintain their health and comfort throughout the day.
What if I have more than one dog?
A second dog can be discussed, depending on both dog's individual temperaments. We recommend a second handler if there is a third dog apart of your family.
Do you require a retainer to book with you?
Yes, a non-refundable $175 retainer is required to reserve your wedding date with us. The remainder of 50% of the total costs are due 4 weeks before the wedding.

We certainly can! Again, travel fees outside of Vancouver would apply, contact us for more details.
Do you carry insurance, and are you pet first aid certified?
Yes! Because we work on venue property as a wedding-day vendor, our coverage is set up for event-style liability. Many venues require vendors to have their own liability insurance and may request a certificate of insurance for your date, which we are happy to provide. We are fully pet first aid certified.
Who will be caring for my dog?
The owner of the company - Sophie Hopkins. We do not contract out our services!
